The FRIENDS OF HIGHFIELD came into being in 1997, initially, to offer a bridge between the choir and its many supporters, but also as an attempt to develop the profile of the choir within the North West. The choir already had many friends and supporters in the Runcorn, Frodsham and Widnes areas but, the creation of a separate Friends of Highfield section has given these supporters their own, distinct identity.

During the years since then the Friends concept has become very popular with everyone involved, and is well received as being an integral part of Highfield Male Voice Choir support.

Membership is currently just over 200, and it costs just £6 per year for individuals or £10 for couples to join. The level of membership within Friends has grown steadily year on year since its formation.

Membership brings several benefits and privileges, including discounted tickets for the Choir’s annual Spring and Autumn Concerts. There is also an annual free buffet/concert especially for members.

Other social events throughout the year for the benefit of Friends include regular day trips to a wide variety of places and events of special interest.

A quarterly newsletter, ‘Highnotes’ is circulated to members, which gives news of the choir and advance notice of forthcoming concerts and activities, plus features and items of general interest.

Management of the Friends rests with a committee of four, with reference back to the main Choir Committee for major strategy decisions. There are many friends of the Friends of Highfield who are willing to assist in the organisation of events in the social calendar.

In conclusion, membership of the Friends of Highfield offers a comfortable relationship with this important Male Voice Choir. For those who may enjoy the joy of choral music or wish a friendship with Highfield, but who may not want any greater involvement in the choir then it is an ideal way to show their support.
