Article from The DailyTelegraph February 2016 about the Leeds Male Voice Choir.

Did you know that singing is one of the most beneficial activities for you?

An Australian study concluded:-
"Singing has physical benefits because it is an aerobic activity which increases oxygenation in the blood stream and exercises major muscle groups in the upper body, even when sitting."
The Highfield is pleased to welcome any new members. If you are not sure if your voice is good enough, why not come along to one of our rehearsals and speak to us. You can sit in one of the rehearsals and see if it is for you.
If you decide to give it a try we will help you to understand which part of the choir you should sing in. You would then sit alongside the more experienced members in your first few rehearsals until you are comfortable with the ways of the choir.
Although there are a number of members of the choir who can sight read music, this is not the norm.

So don't put it off any longer. You can contact us by email, phoning John Powell on 0606 781648 or just turning up to a rehearsal. Rehearsals on Tuesday and Friday evenings and are held at Trinity Methodist Church, just opposite the British Legion in Halton, Runcorn. The Tuesday rehearsal is from 7.15pm to 9.15pm and the Friday rehearsal is from 7.30pm to 9.00pm.

The photograph shows a typical rehearsal where Musical Director, Gary Hill takes the choir through a new piece of music. Gary has been with the choir for about a year now and he has given the choir a renewed enthusiasm for singing.

As well as the singing, the choir has a number of other social events which you can attend - thoug it is not compulsory. These include crown green bowling, tenpin bowling, quiz night with hot pot supper and Chrsitmas dinner dance. You can join in as much or as little as you wish.
